Empires and Kingdoms Associated with the Moors: The Moors were often associated with various empires and kingdoms they were a part of or influenced:

  • Umayyad Caliphate: The Umayyad Caliphate, based in Damascus, was the first Islamic caliphate and expanded its rule into the Iberian Peninsula, leading to the establishment of the Umayyad Emirate of Cordoba.

  • Almoravid Dynasty: The Almoravids were a Berber dynasty that originated in North Africa and expanded their rule into Al-Andalus (the Islamic name for the Iberian Peninsula). They played a role in the history of the Moors in Spain during the 11th century.

  • Almohad Dynasty: The Almohads were another Berber Muslim dynasty that succeeded the Almoravids in North Africa and Al-Andalus during the 12th century.

  • Marinid Dynasty: The Marinids were a Berber dynasty that ruled parts of North Africa, including Morocco, during the 13th to 15th centuries.
